- Stock person at Doris' Italian Market: Can I help you with anything?
- Me: I'm looking for almond filling but it seems there's only a selection of almond pastes and marzipan.
- Stock person, yelling to a person in the bakery: Hey, where's almond filling?
- Bakery person, pointing to exactly where I found the pastes: Right there, it's in a can.
- Stock person, yelling back: The only thing in a can is the paste!
- Bakery person: Look harder!
- Stock person, to me, with a sigh: They don't even know...
- Me: I may just get it and see if there's a means to substitute with it.
- Stock person: What are you trying to make?
- Me: Venetians... the rainbow cake cookies.
- Stock person: You should just buy ours from the bakery!
- Me, amusedly: Ah, I've had 'em here... and from Italian bakeries in New York City. They're good! Just... my mom's are always better.
- Stock person, amused: Ha! Everyone loves mom's best.
- Me: ...my partner refuses to even try other kinds anymore because they're disappointing by comparison!
- Stock person, laughing: Maybe we should hire her.
- Me: I do still give others a chance now and then, but... [nonplussed smirk]
