I’m obsessed with searching small space solutions lately.
New York living comes with plenty of compromises (it comes with plenty of benefits as well, but that’s for another post), especially in regards to space and the ability to extend hospitality.
Goals for our “foreverish” home (starting November/December) include making the most of natural light, maximizing open floor space, and accommodating guests properly and without compromising floor space or blocking natural light.
Loft everything. Make everything else easy to hang up or fold away. Decorative hooks everywhere. Knobs on cabinets. No reason to ever put stuff on the ground.
I’ve done small studio and loft living before, but those times involved solo living.
There will be a good amount of space in a 4-room railroad apartment, but there’s also more than just one person’s life and spacial needs to consider.
It’s exciting.
