I'm Here.

Right now: Brooklyn, New York
Not long ago: Austin, Texas
This one time: Richmond, Virginia
Once upon a time: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Grant me the serendipity to change
the things I cannot accept.

I haven’t received my deposit refund from my Austin landlords.

Not going to rehash via linkage all the crap my landlord’s wife put me through at the very end of my lease in June, but on the morning of walk-through, she left a list of “problems” akin to a list telling someone, “wait, before you go, make the sky blue, make water wetter, and make the grass green.” it was annoying, and annoying to have to play along to assure a return of full deposit. Peter and I spent two more hours taking care of imaginary issues.

The list was left along with her saying, “I have to head off but I can be back to meet with you in 2 hours to complete the walk-through.” I think she thought I was still set to hit the road for NY that day (because that was the original plan, and I had made the mistake of detailing said plans to her) and was playing control games, trying to waste my time and stress me out, but that’s just a guess.

So… I call and leave them a message. The husband returns my call saying he’s surprised I haven’t received it yet, and continues to tell me that I’m due the full deposit, that I was one of his best tenants and left everything perfect.

It took a lot for me not to blurt, “…your partner’s a jerk!”
