I arrived in NY two weeks ago, I think?
It’s been a pretty intense whirlwind, but I think we found ourselves a month-to-month 1-bedroom sublet starting tonight or tomorrow (waiting to hear the final verdict after turning in paperwork) to hold us over until we (likely) take over a friend’s girlfriend’s 4-room railroad apartment a few blocks from Peter’s music studio in November or December. The plan is to spend November doing interior renovations and then make it our foreverish home.
Fingers crossed. Settling in has been beyond a full-time job in itself, one of a few reasons I haven’t touched on job searching yet.
This is unlike any other relocation I’ve handled — it’s been a lot like how I imagine ice skating backwards and uphill would be. I’ll probably spend some time in coming weeks detailing some more news but for now, this is the grand first real update since moving here. Everyone tells me I’ve been doing great. So, if you’ve been wondering, or if anyone asks, that’s the word on the street!
