  • Me: Hi, [name], I'm curious if I can extend my lease or go month-to-month for a couple months after June 31. [Further elaborations of the point/request].
  • Landlord: We'd be okay giving you an extra month to decide. Your lease automatically renews on a month-to-month basis until either party provides written notice of termination to the other party [further elaborations, a side note that the rent will be hiked up by $200 for those two months, bla bla bla]. We don't allow a tenant to go much longer than a month or two without signing a lease.
  • Me: Hi, [name], May I have the option to do July 1 until August 31 at max on month-to-month, and give notice accordingly?
  • Landlord: So many possibilities! It's exciting not knowing and wondering how it all will unfold. Please keep us posted as to your plans for departure or not.
