The real answer is moving to San Francisco where jobs are plentiful.
I’m far too much of east coast human being. Austin is enough of a disconnected island as it is; none of the major cities on the west coast have called to me enough for me to consider veering even further from the east coast than I...

The best decision I ended up making was when I decided to go after the job and forget about geography.
Same here. I wanted to hang tight awhile but I can’t deny my love for relocations. I can only sit still and wait for things to land in my lap for so long before deciding that exerting a lot of energy now will be more effective than...

Job hunt.
I’m applying nationwide.
I thought this would take a few more weeks to consider. Next Friday is my final paycheck until…? I can’t hold my breath for the one dreamy dream job that popped up in Austin while ignoring the other dreamy positions across the nation that are open at GASP! the same time I happen to be looking. I can’t settle for a non-dreamy job simply because...

Eight years later.
My mom called. Something unexpected arrived addressed to my name.
——
Mom: Did you request transcripts?
Me: From where?
Mom: College transcripts?
Me: No… maybe someone else was trying to get a hold of them and by default, it gets sent to my last known address.
Mom: Maybe you forgot that you requested them? I’ll mail it to you.
Me: I have had no reason yet to have my...

This morning.
Me: I got a reply from someone at that job!
Me: It's an automated message telling me they received my email.
Me: Argh!

Peter: What job is that?
Me: The only job in the entire world.
Peter: You're still looking at that one?
Me: [with multiple pages about the company pulled up from a Google search] I like this one more and more... I feel guilty looking at anything else!
Peter: Is that what happened when we met?
Me: Maybe... so what!?

Priorities.
I’m preparing for the coming week of résumé send-outs. Here’s one perk from each of my top three of tomorrow’s sends:
Work from home; company HQ’d in NYC
Very close to home
Very close to Taco Deli

I really want to shoot a band at Hamilton Pool
You ought to! It’ll be far more interesting to innocent bystanders than yesterday’s Euro-gangester flautist playing the beginning of the Titanic theme song multiple times while his wife filmed him.

Where is this?
Hamilton Pool in Dripping Springs, TX. There are scenes in Tree of Life (and some other films) that were shot here.

Wow, where is this?
Trattoria Lisina in Driftwood, TX.
I had never heard of it before; it was Peter’s surprise, at the recommendation of his friend who grew up outside of Austin. It...

mozart’s?
Yep! We’re keeping an eye on the sun — tough to tell just yet whether tonight will be a good one for a Mount Bonnell sunset. Might be good enough from here, though.

Woke up in the middle of the night Tuesday night.
Me: [Sniffle]
Peter: [Because that woke him] Are you crying?
Me: Yeah.
Peter: What's wrong?
Me: I don't wanna... I don't... ugh. Shit.
Peter: It's ok.
Me: [Laughing] God, now I have this awful Aerosmith song in my head!
Peter: Hm.
Me: I... don't... want to sleep.
Peter: I understand.

Uchi was the best dining experience of my life. Love the spirit of this list!
It is an incredibly impressive dining experience. I’m excited to share it with Peter. The last time he was here we were chock full of sweaty, swimming, climbing biking summertime adventures. A cleaned up, dressed up evening...

I spent the weekend (er, last night, mostly) doing a complete overhaul of my resume, reorganizing my portfolio, and writing a cover letter.
I’m about to send it all off to the first and most demanding of the prospects thus far. This particular company had sparked my interest the first time I visited Austin, and I’m still interested.
Anyway, can’t play psychic. The good news:...

Kind've.
marjoree replied to your post: Words.
But… it doesn’t make sense? Kind’ve reads like kind have to me, not kind of.
Oh absolutely, that is what it’s communicating, since ‘ve is for have and not of.
For some reason kind’ve hits my sense of humor rather than my nerves.

I grew up saying it in the Midwest. But we also end sentences with prepositions so grammar shortcuts are appreciated.
Ending sentences with prepositions seems commonplace, no matter where you are… from. You mean to say you ‘preesh the shortcuts, right? Personally, I find OMG totes to be hilarious, if only for the literal...

Words.
My cousin, a junior in high school, and I were chatting for a bit, and she mentioned that her parents wanted to move from New York to Florida soon.
I asked how she felt about it, and if she knew what she wanted to do after graduating, and the first word of her reply was “Kind’ve…”
Kind’ve.
I’ve never seen that before. It’s more self-aware and less...
