May 2011
I just met up with a very old friend who recently moved to San Antonio. He’s here with his fiancee to see a show in Austin. Hearing him tell me he’s never seen me happier, and having Brandi tell me the same thing just a few weeks ago when she was visiting… best shit ever.
That’s all.

colormenaive asked: So nuts. It reminds me of that crazy/futuristic dance Lauren and some dude (I forget who it was) did in those white, spandex jump suits too. Lol, So You Think You Can Dance is my favorite reality show...besides Top Chef.
Even though I listened to that song way before they even used it on that dance...who was the kid you grew up with?

PHENOMENON: When you read more than you speak, often you don’t pronounce the words properly in your mind when you read (see:lazy). So what you end up with is a new 2 second lag before you figure out how to say certain non phonetic words you lazily read incorrectly all of the time. Example: ‘Yosemite’ You know how to say it, and if someone said it to you, you could spell it… but...
thatfrenchman asked: Based on your Last.fm, it looks like you're quite the Iron & Wine fan. I'd always known of them, but just never got around to really sitting down and listening to them. Their song 'Jezebel' came up on Last.fm and I really enjoyed it. I then looked them up and saw they already had quite the library. My question is, which album would you recommend as a good starter?
It's the way you think. That's your purpose.

It’s never been about what work you choose, what gifts you develop, or what niche you fill - let these be for your pleasure. Think as only you can think, which will lead to feelings that only you can feel, from which connections will be made, lives will be changed, and worlds will come tumbling into existence.

It's nights like tonight
that I kick myself for not having a nice digital camera yet (just a phone and a mediocre point-and-shoot that I often forget to use.)
Price range: under $700. I also don’t mind used condition so long as it was cared for.
Pain points: tired of grainy quality on images and video. Hate using flash.
Point me in a direction — forums, storefronts, sellers, a particular make and model.

I just wandered to the other side of the tracks
from the Railroad Revival Tour to see (hear, really) Mumford & Sons.
Most wonderful free experience within 3 miles of anywhere home has ever been that I ever did have.
No, I don’t think it’s wrong that I didn’t pay upwards of $100 for a ticket. You bought a ticket for a reason — you enjoy being smashed up against sweaty strangers with a stage front and center.

Less is more.
rutabagaparsnip asked:I need some hair advice, and you, long-wavy-haired lady with sharp stylist skills, seem a good person to ask.
I have shoulder-length, thick, wavy hair, and I want to grow it out super long. I know shampooing it as often as I do (every other day, with conditioner too) is starting to damage my hair—it’s getting frizzy and poofy. It’s been hard for me to...

San Antonio makes bid to move SXSW →

neighborhoodr-austin:
Is SXSW getting too big for Austin? That’s the lingering question after this year’s music, film and interactive festival wrapped up with more than a few problems. Now city leaders in San Antonio are hoping to bring the popular venue to the Alamo City.

I hate the stupid Alzheimer’s medication commercial with the middle-aged daughter talking about taking care of her mother because she’s always been there for her. I don’t know why it makes me angry. I just want to throw things at the tv and scream. It’s just not fair.
It’s because it presents a false idea that Alzheimer’s is not what happens to our mothers when we...

How To Drive On A Two Lane Highway*
themattsmith:
Pick a speed. Stick with it.
If you are going faster than people, move to the left lane.
If you are in the left lane and someone is going faster than you, move over.
That’s it. How do you fuck that up?
*Specifically rural highways with low traffic like, say, US 41 between Appleton and Milwaukee.
Because it’s foolish to wish for 3+ lanes everywhere, I wish this was a...

I follow the comings and goings of musicians, entrepreneurs, tattoo artists, pencil pushers, writers, photographers, comedians, hair stylists, film critics, college students, nurses, architects and waiters. I follow people in New York, Minnesota, Austin, Los Angeles, Chicago and...

Breaking News
Whitney just put in her notice to a company she’s been with for 5+ years. She’s leaving Florida and moving to Austin within the month. This is the least disappointing news ever.
