Strip Mall Torchy's
I’m crossing it off my list.
I love the Torchy’s taco truck in the food trailer park, love the other little locations in Austin.
But the one down south off the loop and William Cannon in the strip mall? Done.
The flavor has less pop, they underload the tacos, the temperatures are inconsistent, and as if that wasn’t enough of an indication of this location caring more about...

My mom was asking about the furniture I’ve collected so far. I’ve been having an eye for a mid-century modern/rustic/industrial appeal… leaning towards a certain palette and of course towards my own quirky twist on things.
My dad and I both have tried to explain to her the aesthetic I’m aiming for with the new place, which has stained and sealed concrete flooring...

The CEO and founder of the company I moved here for approached me today saying he forgot my name but knows my reputation for having hustle… in my writing and in getting here.
I was called on a Monday evening in mid-April and was told I had the job if I could start the following Monday. Four days later I was in a rental car making the 1,300 mile trip.
